The Department of Defence appointed the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) as Scheme Administrator of the new Defence Home Ownership Assistance Scheme (DHOAS), following a competitive tender.
Defence introduced the home loan subsidy scheme as a key recruitment and retention strategy. DHOAS provides higher levels of benefits to ADF members the longer they serve.
The Scheme started on 1 July 2008. DVA has responsibility for assisting members with their inquiries, determining eligibility and entitlement to DHOAS, processing Subsidy Certificates and making payments of DHOAS subsidies into members' home loan accounts.
