Making changes to a current DHOAS loan
Please advise DVA if you are considering making any changes to your current DHOAS loan. Changes that need to be reported are listed in Step 8.
Renovations
If you want to refinance a DHOAS loan to pay for the cost of renovations to your subsidised property, the renovations must have been funded through a bank loan and not out of personal funds or other personal lending arrangements (such as parents, family). The refinanced DHOAS loan needs to be established to pay out an existing loan with a financial institution.
A DHOAS loan refinance cannot be used to pay back funds to your personal savings, loans from family or a credit card, even if those funds were used for renovations to the subsidised property.
